Artist Direct reviews the Deluxe Edition

On the brand new two-disc/one-dvd deluxe edition of his solo debut, aptly titled Slash, he rips through virtually every genre under the sun passionately, proficiently and perfectly. That’s why Slash is such a rewarding offering. The legendary guitarist pushes his own limits and, at the same time, the limits of rock ‘n’ roll itself. Slash’s axe-slinging is the sharpest that it’s ever been. In fact, he’s at his most incendiary and infectious. The gutter punk attitude of Appetite for Destruction courses through cuts like “Ghost” [Featuring Ian Astbury], “We’re All Gonna Die” [Featuring Iggy Pop] and “Doctor Alibi” [Featuring Lemmy Kilmister]. Each riff rolls like a freight train with gusto and grit. “Crucify the Dead” [Featuring Ozzy Osbourne] is among Slash’s best tunes. It’s an epic and orchestral rocker that segues from symphonic swells into a jarring chorus riff. That’s all before everything blasts into a searing solo.
