Help Slash find an old friend…

A note from Slash:

“I’m trying to find a Les Paul that I used  back in the early 90′s. I’ve since lost track of it. It was an 1989/90 Gibson Goldtop, serial #70854. I always loved that guitar and would be interested in buying it back from whomever has it…. I’ll make it worth their while”

If you have any information on the location of this guitar, please email SlashGibsonGoldtop@gmail.com

I can’t wait to see how many fakers reply to this with either a modified Gold-Top, or (more likely) a ghost-built replica. I’ll tell ya what, Mr. Hudson: just buy my dragon Les Paul. It sounds better than that one did, anyway, and I could use the cash.

I wish I could help you but I have a question, I bought a Slash Edition Les Paul For my son Cameron for his high school graduation present and we are going to the Concert at RibFest in Naperville Ill on July 5. Is there anyway possible I could get Slash to autograph it? I can meet any time and any place to get this done. A father and sons dream!!!!!!!!!! Thanks for your time and waiting to hear from you if possible.
      My email address is gdogglide@yahoo.com
      Thanks again

Hi Slash…or anybody who helps with finding this unique guitar…(;…

I have a Gibson Les Paul GoldTop Standart 1989…and it is really nice sounding guitar…

Here is one forum where I found more info about your old guitar…

    Re: At GNR Tokyo 1992………..
I can shed some light on this, I worked at Gibson at the time-The only Classics Slash got from us were a couple prtotypes from the Custom Shop. They can be seen in the famous group photo he did with a bunch of his guitars a few years back. One was trans red the other trans amber-both had a pearl TRC with a Slash tophat and signature, both were regular tenon and had 60 slim necks. Both had black chrome hardware and really flamey/quilty wood. I don’t think he much dug them, never saw them anywhere but in that one pic.
The goldtop is one I know about, I remeber we sent out that 57 reissue for Slash and a Black Custom as well as a white ES175 for Izzy. All were stamped “Artist Promotional Use” on the back of the headstock, as were all the standard production guitars that A&R handed out-these generally were cosmetically flawed in some small way. That particular darkback pre-historic was an 89 model and was just a wall hanger in the artist “showroom” in the plant. Slash played it and asked for it. The guitar was a regular old short tenon, regular C shape neck model. The difference between a Standard and a reissue back then came down to only a few things that differed, it was basically cosmetic-The bodies had thin binding in the cutaway, the bridge was an ABR1 rather than a Nashville, the serial was inked rather than stamped, and the pearl head logo was a fifties style open”b and o” without a dot over the i. There was also no shielding can in any of the reissues-the can was phased out a little later on. Just a stock guitar like anyone could get back then, blemished, stamped, and plucked off the wall by Slash.

    This is my GoldTop…

So I wish you to find you this lost nice guitar…it is a part of history…(;…bye chuck2 on that forum…

    Slash,
Don’t give up man. I had a bass, an 87 Fender Jazz Special, that I had to pawn about two years after I bought it new in 87′. I always regretted selling it. Recently, I started looking for another Guitar like it because it’s a great bass (type that Duff played even). Unbelievably, I happened across the exact same bass on Ebay, with road rash that I caused to prove it. Never felt so lucky in my life. Keep searching and you’ll find it brother!

    Keep rocking,
    Mark Woltz

Like to admit it or not if it wasn’t for him all u would be is a cut instead of Slash. That was severely in poor taste even for u! The drunk on stage telling a crowd of ppl ur balls are hanging out…. Hi Slash, you may not remember me but I looked after you and the Gunners in 93 when you came to Australia to do your Sydney concert at eastern creek race track . Anyway I was wondering if you will be coming back to Australia again as I am dying and waiting for a heart and lungs transplant I know it may not be important to you but as I was there looking after all of you and you all thought I was a pretty cute security officer and you nicknamed me little Dolly for obvious reasons my biggest wish right now is to see you again play live as I have missed out on the other concerts due to my illness which was caused from my ex husband who bashed me with a cricket bat across my chest which I was diagnosed with pericarditis inflammation around the heart well he beat me up so bad that it tore the linings in my lungs and since April 30 2011 I have spent 3 quarters of my time in CCU and medical ward 3 cardiac and I am a massive fan and when you played the end riff of November rain to wards me as I was on stage with Axl’s bodyguard you smiled at me and said that’s for you as I told you about me losing my Dad a few months before I married and my birthday was 23 November as we are the same age so I hope to be alive for my 48th I was wondering if I you would give me one of your hats or a t shirt signed by you as that would be a lovely gift and if I survive the transplant I would like to put on the shirt or the hat and say I am alive. Slash you were so very kind to me and every time I have gone or rushed to hospital I always ask my nurses to put my earphones on after having 7 heart attacks to play your music especially the ones you have done as a solo artist or the greatest hits of guns n roses as it brings me out of my coma you have saved my life so many times by listening to you so thank you Slash for being my friend as that’s what you said to me at the 93 concert. Stay cool and keep up the great work and your book club with Myles Kennedy . Thank you Monica :-)
